Now, Zimbabwe is preparing for its own monumental event—the “Outcry Experience” featuring charismatic gospel musician Minister Michael Mahendere and the Direct Worship Choir.
Set just five days from now, at the East Hall, Harare Showgrounds, excitement is building and according to the host, early ticket sales have been excellent, with several sections already sold out, hinting on a huge crowd.
The venue was chosen for its huge capacity. The timing could not be more fitting.
Weather forecast predicts that Depression Chido will bring rain until Christmas, but the indoor venue ensures attendees can enjoy the event without worrying.
This sets the stage for a memorable night of music and worship.
Minister Mahendere has made a name for himself by transforming the gospel music scene in Zimbabwe.
Born and raised in a musically inclined family, he was exposed to various musical styles from a young age.
He began his career in church, where he honed his vocal skills and developed a passion for gospel music.
Over the years, Mahendere has released several hit albums, including “Tangai Neni” and “My Declaration,” which resonate deeply with listeners across different age groups.
His performances blend heartfelt worship with captivating entertainment.
“Dance is a form of worship!” he said.
“It’s all about expressing joy and gratitude.”
This approach distinguishes him in a genre where many artists tend to shy away from movement on stage.
His ability to connect with audiences through energetic choreography and soulful singing has earned him a dedicated fan base.
His second edition of the ‘Outcry’ concert theme, ‘Messiah’, aligns perfectly with Unity Day and the Christmas countdown.
“We are creating a space for Christians to come together in joy and spirit,” Mahendere emphasised.
“This is a chance to feel uplifted and connected through music.”
The theme reflects the essence of the season, aiming to foster a sense of community and togetherness among attendees.
In a recent interview, Mahendere shared his excitement as rehearsals ramp up.
“This event is all about my journey and my music,” he explains.
“Fans can expect an immersive experience, just me and the choir on stage with no distractions.”
He hints at a mix of beloved classics and fresh surprises, promising, “We will take them through a musical journey, that is why we calling it an experience!”
This focus on his personal artistry allows fans to engage deeply with his music in a way that typical concerts may not permit.
Looking back on last year’s performance at the 7Arts Amphitheatre, which saw overwhelming attendance, he acknowledges, “We turned people away! That’s why we knew we had to find a bigger venue this time.”
His excitement is palpable as he anticipates fans traveling from as far as South Africa, the United States, and the UK, all eager to witness the event.
With various esteemed worship leaders set to join him, anticipation continues to grow.
“I can’t wait to see how God moves during this event,” Mahendere adds, recalling last year’s unforgettable performance where he danced with youthful energy.
“This year will be even more special, and I promise it will leave everyone wanting more.”
