Sekuru Mutsamba (108) dies

SEKURU Michael Mutsamba (108) passed on last Saturday, and was laid to rest near his homestead in Nyabadza Village, Mutasa district, on Monday.

The vibrant and captivating centenarian, affectionately known as Samatomba, shared his remarkable life story with The Manica Post in June this year.

In the interview the centenarian recounted his life’s events with astonishing clarity and strength in memory.


His Manyika accent, punctuated by lively humour, made the conversation truly unforgettable.

Born on June 16, 1916, Sekuru Mutsamba left behind a legacy of nine children, 43 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, with the youngest being only four years old. Three of his children predeceased him.

His extraordinary life story will continue to inspire and captivate many.
