TRIBAL FUSION VOCALIST RELEASES DEBUT VIDEO

Maria Chiguvari

TRIBAL Fusion vocalist JustLeo is set to release her debut music video “Kummawa” featuring the iconic Djembe Monks on Saturday.

JustLeo sings in Ndebele, Shona, Tonga and Chewa, seamlessly weaving the languages and rhythms to create a truly Pan-African sound.

The songbird said the single ‘Kummawa’ is a fusion of tribal beats and soulful melodies that promise to captivate a lot of hearts.

Featuring the Djembe Monks, JustLeo believes that the musical band’s voice adds an electrifying hymn that perfectly complements her emotional depth.

Inspired by the legendary Chiwoniso Maraire and Andy Brown, JustLeo said she does not shy away from addressing deep societal issues in her songs.

The diva said Feli Nandi’s authenticity has made her who she is today as an artist.

“I love her authenticity and she reminds me to stay true to myself as I share my voice with the world.’

JustLeo said her hometown, Victoria Falls, plays a significant role in shaping her artistic vision and appreciating the Zimbabwean culture.

“I’m inspired by Zimbabwe’s beauty, its people and our shared stories. I want the world to see the magic of Victoria Falls through my music and visuals.

“I have always admired the rich diversity of African cultures.

“Through my music, I want to celebrate that richness, especially the beauty of Zimbabwe,” she said.

JustLeo’s love for singing started in Sunday school, the songstress then began performing soulful covers across Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana while collaborating with various bands to find her unique voice.

From abuse and depression to love and divorce, her music resonates with listeners who seek both solace and joy in art.
