WARRIORS midfield talisman Khama Billliat could not hide his appreciation of Highlanders striker Lynoth Chikuhwa’s positive impact in the just-ended 2024 season that saw him raise the bar high by scoring a massive 17 goals for the Bulawayo football giants.

As a result, Chikuhwa scooped the Golden Boot Award with Billiat coming out as the second top goalscorer with 13 goals.

“I want to appreciate everyone. I came back to play football. I really appreciate the good times we had at Yadah Stars.

“We had great games. To the league’s top goal scorer (Chikuhwa), you really pushed my brother.
“Thank you so much,” said Billiat who was named Soccer Star of the Year second runner-up at the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Awards held last Friday night.

His breathtaking performances also saw him being named the Fans’ best player.
Chikuhwa was named Soccer Star of the Year first runner-up and the top gong was scooped by Walter Musona of Simba Bhora.

Billiat will become a free agent at the end of December when his one-year contract with Yadah Stars expires.

The forward joined Yadah in February after spending over six months unattached following his departure at Kaizer Chiefs last June.

The 34-year-old’s arrival at Yadah Stars marked his return to the domestic league after a decade-and-half stay in South Africa.

Khama said his camp is still working on his next move despite rumours linking him with a move to Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers Scottland FC and several South African teams.
He said: “Obviously, a lot is being said right now. And it’s natural for people to say things. But right now, I am focusing on improving myself and celebrating these wins.

“I will surely move, but the whereto has not yet been decided. I can’t really say much about the future, but all I can say is that something big will come.

“We are working on something.
“And obviously, the key thing is to value and celebrate the time we had at Yadah FC. I am getting all the attention because of that move to Yadah.

“So, my next destination will be revealed in due time, but for now I’m celebrating this success.” — @FungaiMuderere
