SIMBA Bhora have reassured their fans that they are well-prepared for the possibility of a significant exodus of players, including their head coach Tonderayi Ndiraya.

Reports suggest Ndiraya could be joining Scotland FC in addition to key players such as Walter Musona, Mthokozisi Msebe, Tichaona Chipunza, Vassilli Kawe, and Talbert Shumba.

The newcomers to the top-flight league are reportedly spending big on the transfer market, with Highlanders’ Peter Muduhwa and Lynoth Chikuhwa also believed to be joining.

However, Simba Bhora official Charles Nyatsime confirmed that they have a contingency plan in place to remain a strong force should the rumours prove to be true.

“There is no official position yet, even though as a club, we will not stand in the way of anyone who wishes to pursue their future elsewhere. If we have players who want to leave, we will let them go. Even if the coach leaves, it means we will have to bring in a new coach and the players he wants to play in the team,” said Nyatsime.

Nyatsime said their dream of making records goes beyond the local scene.

“We are definitely going to participate and hopefully make history in the same way we did in the local Premiership. For us, the dream continues, and we want to make history just like we did in the local league,” said Nyatsime.

In just their second top-flight season, Simba Bhora clinched the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title with two games left.

This impressive achievement has secured their spot in the esteemed Caf Champions League competition set to kick-off in August next year.

Simba Bhora’s accomplishment also marked a first for Mashonaland Central province, making them the first team outside of Harare and Bulawayo to win the title, joining Ngezi Platinum, FC Platinum, and St Paul’s Musami.

Furthermore, the team made history with its five players, including Walter Musona, being announced among the Castle Soccer Stars of the Year.

It’s an impressive feat that has not been achieved since the awards’ inception in 1969. Musona is also a strong contender for the prestigious Soccer Star of the Year award, while striker Tymon Muchope’s 10-goal contribution secured his spot among the five Simba Bhora players.

Simba Bhora’s defensive backline of Webster Tafa, Blessing Moyo, and Isheanesu Mauchi was also named in the Team of the Season.

This stunning performance is a testament to their investment in talent, with 27 new players signed over two seasons.

The team’s success can also be attributed to the significant investment made in refurbishing Wadzanayi Stadium, costing over US$200 000. This investment has resulted in Simba Bhora securing their fortress and losing only one game at home all season.

Simba Bhora shook the market at the beginning of the season when they announced 11 new additions to their squad.

This included experienced players such as Musona, Perfect Chikwende, and Harrison Masina. The team’s investment in new talent has undoubtedly paid off, securing their position as a formidable force, with a bright future ahead. -@innocentskizoe
