Vincent brothers in good outing

ZIMBABWE top professional golfers Kieran and Scott Vincent had a good outing at the International Series Qa-tar where they managed to make the cut at the weekend.

The siblings were part of the field that teed off in the US$2,5 million purse tournament at Doha Golf Club in Qatar.

Kieran recorded his second successive top-ten finish after he was placed tied for ninth to pocket US46 375 for his efforts as his elder brother Scott was in position 28.

Kieran had rounds of 73, 67, 71, and 70 for a total of 281 seven-under-par for a four-way tie with Ian Snyman, Jaco Ahlers, and Luis Masaveu.

Scott on the other hand was in an eight-way tie to pocket US$14 514 for his efforts.

The 2024 International Series Qatar was won by Peter Uihlein, who earned his second International Series title of 2024.

Uihlein pulled away from the field for a five-shot win on 16-under 272 over South African Charl Schwartzel who finished second.

Schwartzel’s Stinger teammate, Louis Oosthuizen, finished in a tie for third place on nine-under total with Mi-guel Tabuena.

Uihlein won the $450,000 winner’s share of the $2,500,000 purse.

Meanwhile, Michael Wallace was crowned the Zimbabwe Matchplay Tournament, champion at ZRP Golf Club on Sunday.

Wallace who is a leading local amateur managed to win the four-round tournament on 50 points ahead of Kelvin Muchenje of ZRP Golf Club who managed 45 points.

Third place went to Darlington Chikanyambidze of Royal Harare who finished on 40.

In a statement after the last tournament of the season, ZGA said they are grateful to all the stakeholders and players who took part.

“ZGA would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Golfers who took part in the 2024 season. We are also indebted to all the stakeholders who supported us in one way or another. The 2025 National Calendar of Events will be published in due course,’ they stated.
