Dr Obert Moses Mpofu
A CONSTITUTION is a very important document. A Constitution is “sui generis” meaning that, it is of its own kind and there is no other like it.
It is sacrosanct and its violation often results in disastrous consequences. The Zanu-PF constitution is no different. It is an important piece of work that is designed to guide our path in our everyday operations. It is the document that holds the very fabric of our movement together.
One cannot conduct party business outside the dictates of our Party Constitution. It should be the reference point in all our activities as a Party.
Adhering to the Party Constitution is not only good for our democracy but is also an essential element.
Zanu-PF is a constitutional party whose operations are firmly rooted in the Party’s constitution. At the helm of the Party is a firm believer in Constitutionalism. His Excellency President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa does not deviate from the Constitution in his presiding over the colossal people’s party. As a matter of fact, President Mnangagwa has been at the centre of steering the Party towards being firmly rooted in its Constitution.
We all should remember that, it is our President who saved the party and our democracy during one of the most difficult times in our history in 2017, culminating in the renewal and rejuvenation of the Party.
There is no room whatsoever for individuals to toy around with the Party and make it their own. Any and all actions that are contrary to the Party’s constitution and those that are taken outside the leadership’s guidance will always be struck down.
As a party, we are required to defend and abide by our constitution at all times. It is important for all Party cadres across the Party’s structures to thoroughly familiarise themselves with the Party’s constitution.
The constitution is the reference point for all party operations. This important document is what should guide the conduct of all Party members, both in leadership and those not yet occupying leadership positions. Brevity must be exercised when dealing with issues of a Party’s Constitutional nature, for the constitution is the proverbial 10 commandments for our Party.
In all our actions, we should always remember that, unity is of the utmost importance and all our individual actions should be for uniting and not dividing our party.
We should take note that our party together with other fellow liberation movements are under siege. There are those who are bent on putting an end to the progress that we have made thus far in terms of liberating our people. Any sign of disunity may encourage our detractors that they can come between us and divide us.
The divide and rule tactics that have always been deployed by our enemies in efforts to make us fail. We should never leave any room or encourage the enemy through showing any signs of weakness. Zanu-PF has never been a weak movement.
We have always remained united in our numbers. What differentiates us from the rest, is our unity of purpose. There is always hope from our enemies that, we be divided but we have always disappointed them.
Our comrades across the divide are united and this will remain so for the foreseeable future. It has become common practice that there are media houses and unscrupulous elements in various social media platforms that tend to be excitable and publish mistruths that serve the purpose of misinforming the people.
Our people within our file and rank are, however, not easily led astray as they have stayed with their movement for the longest and truly know the happenings at every step. So, all the misinformation and disinformation being spread by our enemies who place so much effort in trying to interpret the happenings in Zanu-PF will fail, as they have always done before.
Zanu-PF matters are for Zanu-PF people and should not be subjected to outsiders who have no knowledge or love of the Party. As such, our issues should be solved within the Party and not through social media platforms. Bringing our internal issues to be subjected to those who have no idea of the Party’s ways should never be allowed to happen.
Zanu-PF’s strength lies in the fact that it is always in sync. It is our constitution and its clarity that keep us all moving together in one direction, effortlessly. The colossal Party has never been out of sync throughout its history. This allows us to perform our tasks with surgical precision and separates us from the rest.
We are perhaps the most constitutional Party in the region. There can be no doubt as to the strides we have made and the impressive achievements attained so far, owing to our being firmly rooted in our constitution.
As this year draws to an end, Zanu-PF still remains as it was before and this will continue for the longest time to come. Those who wish ill on our party and are hoping to see us divided will wait for the longest time.
