The mystery of entering the year

Sunday sermon with Apostle Chisale

GREETINGS beloved nation, in the name of Jesus Christ. Welcome to the year 2025! Compliments of the season to you all.

In Exodus 12:1-2, we read, “The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, ‘This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.’”

The Israelites had been in Egypt for 430 years, and each year, they observed a new year, just as we did at the beginning of 2025. Some of us celebrated with fireworks, others with drums, while some, regrettably, engaged in vandalism — an all-too-familiar scene from previous years. There is a cultural expectation to celebrate the arrival of a new year.

Many people make resolutions as they anticipate the opportunities a new year brings. There is nothing inherently wrong with celebrating; some chose to do so in their homes, while others went out to ignite fireworks.

However, it is crucial to understand the significance of how to enter the year. The year, the month, and even each day have gates. While many celebrated the arrival of 2025, the reality for some — according to God’s calendar—might place them spiritually in 1985, 2016, or even 2020. If you don’t seize the year spiritually, you won’t fully experience the benefits that 2025 has to offer.

Life is spiritual, and those who grasp these spiritual truths can reap physical rewards. According to scripture, there is no year that is inherently bad, a year becomes unfavourable only when people haven’t sought guidance from God. Despite any challenges we faced in 2024, God’s Word remains unchanged — He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He desires for you to enjoy the blessings reserved for this year.

Ladies and gentlemen, we must enter the year in the spirit, for the spirit is the mother of the physical. Many have celebrated entering 2025, but according to Heaven’s calendar, the only thing that may have changed is the number of one’s age.

A new year only becomes new when something significant is birthed in our lives. The Israelites spent 430 years in Egypt, celebrating a new year, while in God’s eyes, it was anything but new. Imagine how many people are celebrating 2025 yet remain ensnared in spiritual bondage, lacking true liberation and experiencing no tangible change in their lives.

Scripture defines a new year as the time when God steps in to confront spiritual enemies and dismantle barriers. Yes, 2025 is upon us, but God desires to rescue us from everything we are enduring as a nation.

In Exodus 12:1-2, God tells Moses and Aaron in Egypt — representative of the worldly state, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.” God was moved by the prayers of the Israelites and transformed their time, declaring a new beginning. They may have believed they were in the month of June, but God commissioned that month as the first.

For 430 years, they celebrated a New Year, yet Heaven was not in agreement. A true new year only occurs when Heaven rejoices alongside you. As we entered 2025, let us ask ourselves: Were we truly celebrated by Heaven, or was our own flesh celebrating while heaven remained silent? As we examine Exodus 12 in detail, we see that when God introduced a new year for His people, their oppressors were defeated.

The Egyptians pleaded with the Israelites to leave, overwhelmed by calamity. The Israelites didn’t exit empty-handed; they left adorned with gold and silver jewellery.

Psalm 65:11 assures us, “You crown the year with Your goodness.” This highlights that the year is endowed with goodness, and only those who comprehend these spiritual principles can access the year’s blessings by employing the keys of the house of David.

I urge the nations of the world to turn to the Lord so that He may perform mighty works for us like those He did for the children of Israel in 2025. There is nothing more disheartening than celebrating a new year while our circumstances remain unchanged, save for our advancing age.

However, God assures us that amid pain, confusion, and discouragement, He desires to alter our experiences this year, leading us into Heavenly celebration. There is hope in God, and there is triumph ahead. We are destined to overcome this year.

Numbers 31:49 states, “Your servants have counted the soldiers under our command, and not one is missing.” I pray that none of us, our families, friends, and fellow believers will be lost in this year, in Jesus’ name. May the same protective covering that shielded the Israelites during their exodus from Egypt encompass you all.

I plead the blood of Jesus over each of you, which speaks of better things than any challenges you may encounter this year. I declare, by the authority of the Lord Jesus, let there be mercy upon our nation.
