FOUNDERS High School in Bulawayo has once again proven to be a powerhouse of academic excellence, with its students achieving exceptional results in the recent national examinations.

The school’s impressive performance has sent a wave of excitement throughout the community with students, teachers and parents celebrating the outstanding achievement and urging a spirit of perseverance and hard work to continue.

Advanced Level examination results for Founders High School show that the school recorded a remarkable 92,8 percent pass rate, with a good number of students achieving distinctions in different subjects.

In an interview with the Sunday News, the school’s headmistress, Mrs Dorothea Moyo, attributed the success to the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers, and staff.

“We are thrilled with the results, and it’s a testament to the tireless efforts of our students and staff. We are proud of each and every one of them and we look forward to continue improving and celebrating our achievements in the years to come,” she said.

The headmistress said despite the challenges the school has faced such as a lack of resources like textbooks and furniture as well as operating in a challenging economy parents have been very supportive.

“As Founders High School, we are here because we are destined to be here, and these are our children.

We always encourage our teachers to have their children learning here and by implementing that idea, we are saying that when we are here, we are teaching our children. We have faced challenges relating to the economy but we have remained focused. We are happy that we have the Public Service Commission coming and providing transport to our teachers, so the issue of transport is balanced. We are social people, we do teamwork and it builds a family spirit,” she said.

Mrs Moyo also noted that the school’s success can be attributed not only to its academic programmes but also to its boarding facility, which provides a home away from home for its students.

She described it as a facility designed to provide a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters good values and strong academic supervision.

“Our teachers volunteer to provide extra lessons to ensure our students receive the best education possible. We also offer a range of extracurricular activities that cater to different interests and talents, helping our students develop into well-rounded individuals,” she said.

These extracurricular activities include sports, music, drama and art programmes, which provide students with opportunities to explore their passions and develop their skills.

“Founders High School is also committed to providing its students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in all areas of life. The school’s curriculum includes courses in life skills, entrepreneurship and leadership, which provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in an ever-changing world,” she said.

Mrs Moyo expressed her gratitude and commended the students and staff for their hard work, highlighting that they are looking forward to continuing providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed.
