 Company registration: Fees vary depending on the type of entity (private limited company or sole proprietorship), typically ranging from US$100 to US$300.

 Tax registration: This is mandatory and free, but you may need an accountant to assist you, costing about US$50 to US$100.

Office space and equipment

Although many digital marketing businesses start from home, having a professional workspace can enhance credibility.

 Office space: Shared co-working spaces in Harare cost between US$50 and US$200 per month. 

Alternatively, a small office lease ranges from US$300 to US$600 monthly.

 Equipment: Essential tools include a laptop or desktop computer ($500 to $1 200), a smartphone ($200 to $500), and a reliable internet connection (US$50 to US$100 per month).

Internet and software tools

Reliable internet is crucial for managing campaigns, creating content and communicating with clients. Consider fibre-optic internet providers like ZOL or TelOne.

 Marketing tools: Subscriptions to platforms like Google Ads, Canva, Hootsuite or Mailchimp are vital. These tools cost $10 to US$50 per month each. Advanced tools like SEMrush or HubSpot can range from US$100 to US$500 monthly.

Skills and training

Digital marketing requires proficiency in areas like SEO, social media management and content creation. Investing in training can set you apart.

 Courses: Platforms like Coursera, Udemy or LinkedIn Learning offer courses for US$50 to US$200 each.

 Certifications: Google Ads and HubSpot certifications are free but require time and effort to complete.

Branding and marketing

Your business needs to stand out in a competitive market.

 Website development: A basic website costs US$200 to US$500. Advanced e-commerce or custom designs can exceed US$1 000.

 Branding: Logo design and branding packages range from US$50 to US$300.

 Advertising: Initial marketing efforts, such as social media ads, require a budget of at least US$100 to US$300 monthly.

Legal and financial requirements

Ensure you comply with Zimbabwean laws and manage finances effectively. Contracts: Work with a lawyer to draft service agreements and contracts (US$50 to US$150 per document).

 Accounting services: Hiring an accountant or using software like QuickBooks (US$10 to US$50 per month) helps track finances and tax compliance.
