Grow your vision of greatness

Hunt For Greatness
Milton Kamwendo

EYES that look are common, but eyes that see are rare.

Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.

Greatness begins with a vision.

This is a spark of inspiration, an idea, a revelation and a possibility that guides you towards an extraordinary future.

This is the story of Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti.

In 1960, in Bindura, he began with a humble vision but little means.

He desired to build a church that would bring hope, healing and transformation to lives around the world.

Having been trained as a carpenter and with little formal education, all this seemed but a dream.

Archbishop Guti faced challenges that would have made many give up.

These included limited resources, scepticism and the enormity of the task ahead.

He believed the vision God had given him was not for him alone but for the multitudes.

He had a bias for action. He used what he had, all the way improving, learning, adapting and growing.

Through prayer, faith and relentless effort, he nurtured his vision.

Today, the church that he founded โ€” the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA Forward in Faith) โ€” stands as a global ministry, operating in 150 nations.

The vision for greatness takes form and shape once it is seized and actively worked on.

Each stage in the pursuit of vision opens the gate to the next level.

From Bindura, the journey to establishing a church in Harare was not easy, including going to the nations; then establishing institutions, among them schools, a hospital and a university.

And, to cap it all, living to 100.

Archbishop Gutiโ€™s story illustrates that greatness is not achieved overnight.

It is grown, cultivated and nurtured.

Greatness is grown through focus, discipline and endurance.

Unwavering commitment and persistence deliver results.

His journey reminds us that no vision is too small to grow into something extraordinary if we dare to nurture it.

Take inspiration from those who have grown their greatness.

Commit to the process of growth.

Vision is the blueprint for greatness.

It shapes dreams into reality.

It transforms ordinary lives into extraordinary stories.

It turns aspirations into achievements.

Vision gives direction, purpose and meaning to your efforts.

Greatness is not reserved for special people.

It is not for the smartest, talented or privileged.

It is for everyone who dares to see what is possible and commits to making it real.

Like Archbishop Guti, a spiritual father and legend, your vision has value.

Your ideas matter.

Your vision has the potential to inspire, uplift and create lasting impact.

Feed your vision.

It must grow, evolve and adapt.

To grow your vision of greatness, you must expand it in four critical ways:

See beyond the current reality

Greatness demands the ability to see possibilities that others cannot.

Your current circumstances should never define your ultimate potential.

Your beginning may be small but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Archbishop Guti began with a vision that seemed impossible โ€” a global ministry from humble beginnings.

He chose to focus on what could be, rather than what was.

Ask yourself: What is possible for me if I refuse to be limited by my current reality?

Who can I become if I fully commit to my vision?

Stretch your desires

A vision that does not challenge you is not worthy of you.

Greatness requires a bold and ambitious vision. A vision draws you to push beyond the pain barrier.

You have to push beyond your comfort zone.

Archbishop Guti did not just create a church but a movement.

It was to achieve far more than where life had found him.

His vision was to transform lives globally. He had to stretch and keep learning.

Vision requires prayer, faith and courage.

Ask yourself: What legacy do I want to leave behind?

How can I expand my vision to impact more lives? What would I do if I was not afraid?

Be driven by purpose

A vision rooted in purpose has the power to change the world.

Archbishop Gutiโ€™s vision was deeply rooted in his calling to serve God and others. Purpose gives your vision wings and depth.

Purpose is that small voice that keeps you going when the road ahead looks dark.

It is that inner strength that keeps your vision alive despite the challenges of growth.

Vision transforms personal ambition into a mission that serves others.

Reflect on the following: What values and passions guide my vision? How can my vision serve others and make my community better? How could I make a difference for many other people?

Commit to growth

A great vision does not drive you to park. It evolves as you grow and gain new perspectives.

As you feed your vision, it leads you to new paths.

As you grow, you start seeing new possibilities.

Archbishop Gutiโ€™s vision did not stop at building a church. His dream was to literally go to the uttermost parts of the earth and preach the gospel. His vision was to raise people and help them.

From self-help dress-making classes, his vision grew into schools, universities and hospitals.

He nurtured people to do the impossible through penny capitalism and simple projects.

He did not only dream; he dared to do.

To nurture your vision, commit to lifelong learning growth.

Learn continuously through reading, travel, people and experiences.

Seek knowledge and learning experiences that expand your capacity to achieve your vision.

Challenges will come. People will leave you and surprise you. Adapt to change and do not give up. Be flexible and focused.

Willingly pivot when circumstances shift.

Celebrate progress but do not settle.

Acknowledge milestones to maintain momentum and motivation. Make growing your vision of greatness a priority.

Committed to your greatness.
