MANICALAND has been applauded for contributing significantly to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product through its viable industries and hardworking personnel.
Speaking during his tour of business entities and projects in Manicaland today, Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, said Government is committed to supporting provincial economies to grow.
“I am impressed by the work culture of people in Manicaland. They are hardworking, and they should be applauded for contributing towards the country’s GDP. We are seeing great progress even in terms of formalisation of businesses. There is a need to protect the Zimbabwean economy, protect its jobs, and protect provincial economies so that we can have a national economy to talk about. Our provincial economies should be run by the provincial Government structures.
“We are doing provincial devolution tours where we want to be able to see how provincial economy is working. Today we had the priviledge of visiting two main manufacturers in Mutare. We are impressed that companies like Mutare Bottling Company are continuing to invest despite various shortcomings they are facing. They continue to employ many families directly and indirectly. We will continue to monitor progress in terms of provincial economies,” he said.
Engineer Muguti was accompanied by Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Dr Misheck Mugadza and various officials.
They toured Invictus Steel Company and Mutare Bottling Company.
