PERMANENT Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr Moses Mhike toured Munyarari Primary School as part of the Mutare Education Support project being implemented by Plan International Zimbabwe.
The tour included the visit to Munyarari Primary and Chinyauhwera High schools to appreciate the collaboration between Government, United Methodist Church, Plan International and the community that built and refurbished school blocks as well as livelihood start-up projects.
The tour aims to have a contextual appreciation of non-formal education issues for integration in the non-formal education review currently underway.
Mr Mhike said: “I am glad to be here, visiting young learners makes me reminisce of my days as a student at Khami Primary School. I am unashamed of where I learnt, as I think more of what I can do for the school that raised me as a grown up. Seeing my ministry and its partners work together to do impressive feats around schools shows how we are an inclusive ministry.
“I am happy to learn that the United Methodist Church has partnered with other firms to better the school for its students.โ
School head Mr Dunmore Zikiti said: โWe are happy to have the Permanent Secretary here. We really appreciate having visiting the school and lend an ear to our concerns. Their leadership will help us move forward and do better as a school.โ
