SADDENED by Cde Justin Mupamhanga’s demise, but accept that he did his part in the liberation of this country, and also in the championing of development after the attaining of independence.
I had an opportunity to work under his leadership when implementing the Kanyemba project, when was still the Provincial Administrator for Mashonaland Central Province.
There was a great traction on the project’s implementation, and used to feel that there was effective supervision from the late national hero, Cde Justin Mupamhanga.
All he needed were results, hence we made some great strides under his direct leadership, together with the late former Chief Air Marshall and Agriculture Minister, Cde Perrance Shiri.
The project fell under the purview of the Honourable Vice-President, Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who would come to Kanyemba twice a month, accompanied by high level Government officials from all sectors of the economy. At times it included more than 10 Cabinet ministers, each focusing on their sector or mandate on the multi-sectoral project implementation on Kanyemba.
Cde Mupamhanga was at the centre of the implementation of the project.
The late national hero held several positions in different ministries at different levels, and left an indelible mark of hard work, exemplary leadership and harmonious working relationship.
His demise is a great loss to the people of Zimbabwe, and Mashonaland Central in particular, where Cde Mupamhanga had personal touch with the ordinary people as well as the leadership, sharing his vast experience on developmental issues.
May his wife and family get solace from the work he did to liberate this country, as well as working tirelessly at very strategic and higher levels in Government for its success. I personally learnt a lot from the leadership tenets he displayed for the 42 years I have been in Government.
Cde Mupamhanga was such a humble, and good leader to work under.
He was a man of few words, result-oriented and strict disciplinarian.
The nation has lost a revolutionary par excellence. Cde Mupamhanga had his country at heart.
May dear soul rest in eternal peace.
