‘Indoda Must’… Mzoe 7 eases Valentines’ pressure

Langalakhe Mabena

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and the phrase “Indoda Must…” will be frequently used by ladies on social media platforms (as it is already trending), to pressure their hapless partners into showering them with gifts on the special day meant to celebrate love.

But whose love is being celebrated on that particular day in a year and who said it is a “must” for men to gift their women with materials? Isn’t love a two-way thing?
These are questions that the Outstanding Male Artiste of the Year at the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (RoilBAAs) Mzoe 7 is addressing on his highly anticipated single titled Indoda Must, which is set to be released on 1 February.

On the song, which was produced by photographer-cum-producer Too High at X Studios, Mzoe 7 preaches to his brothers that it’s not every time that they must adhere to pressures that are imposed on them by women, and social expectations.

Interestingly, the song which is meant to be a huge tune for Valentine’s, will be released with visuals (short and directed by Wild Fire) to illustrate that love is a give and take thing, with scenes that show men also deserve to be treated with love and affection as well as being given presents if need be.

“This song is here to give strength to men who are subjected to love a societal pressure.
“In most cases, you hear that a certain guy committed a crime and is in jail because he wanted to impress a woman by pampering her with gifts on occasions like Valentine’s Day.

“In worst scenarios, some men even get depressed to the extent of committing suicide after failing to impress their ladies, which is common these days.
“I am not saying men shouldn’t spoil their women but I am preaching that love is a two-way thing and men also deserve to be gifted with presents.

“If money is not there, don’t put pressure on yourself to do something big that will cost your pocket and inner peace, rather gift your woman/man with the little that is there. At the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts,” said Mzoe 7.

The track, which has an AmaPiano feel, is expected to play a big role as a building up to Mzoe’s Extended Play (EP) slated to be dropped on 1 April.
