Live Coverage:Zimbabwe Staff College Graduation Ceremony

The Commander-In-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces President Mnangagwa is this morning expected to preside over the graduation ceremony of the Joint Command and Staff Course Number 37 at Staff College in Harare.

President Mnangagwa has arrived at the Zimbabwe Staff College where he will preside over the graduation ceremony of the Joint Command and Staff Course Number 37.

10.35AM 

The graduation ceremony has started.

A total of 71 officers drawn from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, SADC, Regional & International Allied Defence Forces are graduating. 14 percent of the graduates are female.

The President is now presenting awards and certificates to deserving students.

Presentation of awards and conferment has concluded. The President has now taken to the podium

President Mnangagwa says the graduation ceremony is occurring when the region is re-examining approaches to peace and security in Africa
He says defence is of fundamental importance and integral in advancing sustainable economic stability with the region and Africa as a whole.

Tech advancements have resulted in greater advantages of additional national resources within the country and continent at large.

“Our mantra African solutions to African problems must remain true.”, said President Mnangagwa.

He commends ZDF for milestones in skills development.

“Student representation from East Africa at the Staff College is welcome,”he said.

The President says Africa and SADC must scale up multi-pronged solutions to silence guns on the continent.

He directs the Zimbabwe Staff College to diversify the content of its programmes.
