A WOMAN is claiming she battled a kombi driver, who was trying to rob her, and won the battle.
The incident happened on November 28.
Tariro Marovatsano came to Harare from Shamva to restock her shop and boarded the kombi at the corner of Jason Moyo Avenue and Robert Mugabe Road at around 9 pm.
The kombi did not have a conductor.
“I was the last passenger to get off the kombi.
“When I requested to be dropped off at my designated bus stop, the driver refused and continued driving. I asked him where he was going but he ignored me, I had to physically grab his neck to get his attention,” she said.
When they reached an isolated area, the driver stopped the vehicle and attacked her, choking her and demanding money.
“He told me, your life ends here and asked for all my money, I handed him my bag, which contained my phone, but he didn’t bother to check its contents, since I had said I had no money,” she said.
“I prayed as I fought him and when we got to an open space, I managed to pin him down and sit on his legs.”
The attack left Marovatsano with significant injuries, including a lost tooth and others that required stabilisation by a dentist.
The incident was reported to the police and investigations are ongoing.
