SOUTH AFRICA-BASED visual artist, Milton Pamuzanda, feels that his dream has come true after he travelled to Zimbabwe to meet his idol, veteran artist Dominic Benhura.

The 28-year-old artist said his inspiration has always come from Benhura.

He revealed he has been following Benhura’s work since he was in Grade 3.

“I started doing art when I was in Grade 3 and got the inspiration from Dominic Benhura.

“I had the unbelievable opportunity to meet my idol, the person I admire the most in this world.

“From the moment I found out I was going to meet Dominic Benhura, I felt like I was floating on cloud nine.

“And, now that I have actually met him, I am on top of the world.

“Meeting my idol was a dream come true.

“He was even more amazing in person than I could have ever imagined. His presence was captivating, and his words of wisdom and encouragement was truly inspiring.

“I felt like I was in a daze, standing face-to-face with someone who has had such a profound impact on my life.

“We talked, laughed, and shared moments that I will cherish forever. The experience was surreal, and I never wanted it to end.”

Milton said his confidence has been boosted.

“I felt like I could conquer the world, knowing that my idol believed in me and my dreams.

“I am filled with gratitude and a renewed sense of motivation. Meeting my idol has given me the confidence to pursue my passion and never give up on my goals.

“I will forever hold this memory close to my heart and I am so grateful for this incredible opportunity.”

In 2022, Milton was given an award by a leading art gallery in Cape Town.

“I am surviving through art and I have been honoured by Lindy Van Niekerk, whom I met on Facebook.

“I did a portrait painting for her.

“She owns Lindy Van Niekerk Art Gallery, which is one of the most revered art galleries in Eversdal, Cape Town,” he said.

Milton owns Milton Arts.

“I am a self-taught artist.

“I have done exhibitions at the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe and SEITT action from district, provincial, and national.

“I have several awards from my former schools as well,” said Milton.
