MOB VIOLENCE LANDS MAN IN COURT FOR MURDER

A MAN who participated in mob violence which led to the death of an intruder who had broken into his neighbour’s house, appeared in court yesterday charged with murder.

Admire Ngoshi, of Budiriro 5, was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Isheanesu Matova.

He was released on US$50 bail.

Allegations are that on January 10, at around 3am, the informant was sleeping in his cottage when he heard noise coming from the main bedroom.

He recognised the voice shouting for help as that of his sister and he rushed to the main bedroom.

He entered her sister’s bedroom and saw the intruder strangling his sister Tinevimbo Garanewako. Upon seeing the informant, the intruder jumped out through the window.

The informant pursued the intruder, shouting for help.

The informant caught up with the intruder who told him that Garanewako was his girlfriend and he was surprised why she had screamed for help when he entered her house.

It is alleged that a mob started assaulting the intruder.

Some witnesses heard the noise,  went outside to investigate and they saw the intruder on the ground, being assaulted by a mob of about 50 people, who were using whips and logs.

Ngoshi was allegedly part of the mob and they took the intruder to Gunguwo Street, Budiriro 5B, where they kept on assaulting him until he became unconscious.

It was later found out that he was showing no signs of life and a report was made at ZRP Budiriro.

During investigations, detectives from CID Homicide Harare received information from witnesses which led to the arrest of Ngoshi and his accomplices.
