NEW YORK. – For billionaire rapper and businessman Jay-Z, the biggest battle will not come in the courtrooms but at home.
The billionaire’s name was dragged into Sean “Diddy” Combs alleged rape cases when he was accused of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl in New York in 2000. He was named in a civil suit and has denied the allegations.
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” Jay-Z said in a hard-hitting statement.
“My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.
“I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.”
This means that Jay-Z’s biggest battle will be fought at home in which he will have to deal with his 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and convince her that he did not rape a girl who was only one year older than her at the time.
It’s a tough battle, especially in today’s world where social media ensures that just about everything is splashed on the digital platforms, a playground where the likes of Blue Ivy and her friends play.
Many of the posts will be savage and Blue Ivy will have to deal with them hoping that her father is right – all this is a pack of lies meant to tarnish his image.
Jay-Z’s two other children are seven-year-old twins. Shortly after the news broke on Sunday, Jay-Z, Beyonce and Blue Ivy walked the red carpet in Los Angeles.
“My heart and support goes out to true victims in the world, who have to watch how their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit,” said Jay-Z.
The Grammy winner’s statement comes after an accuser identified as “Jane Doe” refiled a civil suit in which she listed Jay-Z as the previously unnamed individual she claims raped her alongside Combs at a house party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
In his denial, Jay-Z addressed the lawyer who filed the allegations, Tony Buzbee, who has also filed a significant number of similar lawsuits against Combs.
“You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honour.”
“We protect children. I look forward to showing you just how different I am.” – Agencies/USA Today/E!
