DAD TAKES TWO-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER TO THE BAR, GIVES HER BEER

Jemira Chitakunye

A WOMAN claims that her husband takes their two-year-old child to the bar and makes the toddler drink beer.

She told the Harare Civil Court yesterday that her husband was abusing their child with his strange habits.

Gloria Masendu was granted a protection order against her husband Tawana Chiremba.

“My husband takes our two-year-old child to the bar when he is drinking with his friends. When he is drinking his beer he also gives our child some sips from the beers, which is dangerous to her health.

“If l reprimand him and order him to stop, he assaults me saying that l am not a good mother.

“He claims l should not tell him what to do since he is in charge of the house.

“Tawana insults me using all sorts of insults and if l complain he then threatens me.

“My fear now is about my daughter’s health, which he is putting at risk.”

Tawana did not deny the allegations against him.

“I have the right to my child and that is why l take her out.

“It is out of ignorance and excitement of being a father that triggers me to take the child to the bar.”

He showed remorse for his actions and apologised to his wife.
