Thousands are making their way into Magamba Vocational Training Centre grounds for the Manicaland Youth Empowerment Forum and belated Africa Youth Day commemorations where President Mnangagwa is expected to be the guest of honour.
Africa Youth Day commemorations are traditionally held on November 1, a day that was set aside by the African Union to recognise youths as key agents for social change, economic growth and sustainable development.
The theme for Africa Youth Day 2024 is โ1 Million Next Level is Knocking: Educate an African Fit for the 21st Centuryโ.
The theme highlights the importance of educating young people in Africa to be prepared for the 21st Century.
It also underscores the need to build resilient education systems to ensure that young people have access to quality, inclusive, and relevant learning.

Several dignitaries have arrived at Magamba Vocational Training Centre ahead of the arrival of the President for the Manicaland Youth Empowerment Forum.
Some of the dignitaries that are already here include Zanu PF National Secretary for Legal Affairs in the Politburo, Cde Patrick Chinamasa and Secretary for Local Government Cde Supa Mandiwanzira, Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister Tino Machakaire and the Permanent Secretary for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Abiot Maronge.
President Mnangagwa has arrived at Magamba Vocational Training Centre in Mutare where he will preside over the institution’s graduation ceremony.

Magamba Vocational Training Centre is located about 20 kilometres west of Mutare along the Harare- Mutare Highway.
It offers several courses, with emphasis on entrepreneurship development.
The institution has a variety of courses for youth who want to engage in both informal and formal sectors. The college uses short, long and outreach model of training.
President Mnangagwa has officiated at the Manicaland Youth Forum and belated Africa Youth Day celebrations at Magamba Vocational Training Centre in Mutare where he emphasised the importance of youths in the countryโs development.
In his address, the President said it is important for young people to shun drugs and substance abuse.
โYouths are the future of our country and its development but they cannot do that if they abuse drugs and alcohol,โ he said.
The President said the youths should be empowered in the use of the latest technologies for them to be able to spearhead development.
President commissions Magamba Vocational Training Centre School Business Unit, boys dormitory

President Mnangagwa has commissioned the Magamba Vocational Training Centre School Business Unit and a boys’ dormitory.
The business unit comprises four fish ponds, a three-hectare horticulture garden with beans, cabbage and tomatoes, among other high-value crops.
Government established the business unit under the Presidential Rural Development Programme, with the Zimbabwe National Water Authority as the implementing agency.
