ACE motocross rider Victor Nyamupfukudza has been hailed as a model sportsperson after raising high the country’s flag in the FIM African Championships held in Marrakech, Morocco, last month.

The 10-year-old was Zimbabwe’s sole representative at the prestigious continental Championships and he grabbed silver in the 65cc Class that was won by South Africa’s Chan Craven in a strong field of 20 riders from Uganda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Madagascar, and the hosts Morocco.

And his corporate partners, who put resources together for him to fly to the North African country, have reassured him of more support after his legendary act that drew plaudits from far and wide.

National Foods, through their Snacks Division, have always backed the rider and have seen to it that he gets what he needs in his endeavours.

The company’s representative said they were keen to see Nyamupfukudza inspiring other youngsters to pursue their dreams.

“As National Foods, we have a credible ongoing corporate social responsibility programme, where we assist the community where we can.

“We hope that the young man’s story can inspire other young people to live a healthy and active lifestyle, which we as a company support.”

The youngster is a Grade 5 learner at Royal Oak Junior School in the Waterfalls area of Harare where he has been awarded a full scholarship. Royal Oak Junior School head Angela Nyuke hailed the skilful racer and said the school was committed to helping him achieve his dreams.

“Victor Nyamupfukudza has made us immensely proud by raising both the Zimbabwean and Eland Oak flags high. In recognition of his exceptional talent, we awarded him a full scholarship for the duration of his studies with us,” said Nyuke.

“As a school, we are fully committed to supporting Victor and will continue to rally behind him every step of the way.”
