Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere has praised journalists for their professional and accurate coverage of post-Cabinet briefings throughout the year.

Speaking at the final post-Cabinet briefing of 2024, Dr Muswere acknowledged the media’s contribution to disseminating information about Government policies, programmes, and projects.

“Valued members of the media fraternity, on behalf of the Cabinet of Zimbabwe, I express profound appreciation for the deep understanding that has developed between the media and Cabinet as a result of this forum,” he stated.

He added, “I wish to congratulate you, members of the media fraternity, for accurately reporting on the policies, programmes and projects deliberated on by Cabinet, as presented at the briefing sessions.”

Dr Muswere also urged those responsible for information dissemination to always observe the key journalism tenet of reporting accurately on all issues of national interest.

He expressed gratitude for the media’s understanding and appreciation of topics that would have been deliberated on in Cabinet.

“I am happy to say that we have worked well together and have largely reached a common understanding on matters deliberated upon by Cabinet, aided to a large extent by the Question-and-Answer segment of each Session.

“May this cordial spirit we have consolidated continue as it assists in supporting national development,” he said.

Dr Muswere concluded by proposing a toast to the successful hosting of the Post-Cabinet Media Briefing Sessions in 2024 and the success of future sessions.

Under the Second Republic, Zimbabwe has embraced a culture of home-grown solutions, focusing on the optimal exploitation of its natural resources and human capital. This approach aligns with the inclusive philosophy encapsulated in the mantra “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo,” emphasizing the importance of national ownership in development initiatives.
