WISROE Investments, a microfinance company in Mt Darwin, lost valuable items and US$5 844 to seven armed robbers.

The robbers pounced on the company premises as staff members were counting the daily takings.

Provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha said the incident occurred on November 6 at around 7 pm.

After closing office doors for the day, Leona Chitotomere and Takudzwa Chimasha were counting money when one suspect entered the premises, pretending to be a customer.

After informing him that they had closed, the suspect stepped out.

Moments later, six more suspects stormed into the shop.

Two remained at the main door, while the other four approached Chitotomere and Chimasha.

The one who had initially entered the office then closed the door from the outside.

Chitotomere and Chimasha were forced to lie down, and their hands, legs, and mouths were tied.

One of the robbers threatened to shoot them.

The thieves stole the US$1 480 that was on the desk, as well as an IP Core-5 laptop, five Samsung M5 cellphones, 13 Itel P55 cellphones, and two Itel S-23 cellphones.

They also took four Infinix 8 cellphones, three Infinix 7 cellphones, one iPhone 12, one G-Tel Infinix 7, one Samsung A10E and a Samsung Galaxy A15 cellphone.

The robbers dragged the victims to a corner of the shop and covered them with a blanket before escaping.

Total value of the stolen items is US$5,844 and nothing has been recovered.
