Kadonzvo reflects on turnaround season

VALENTINE Kadonzvo expects to crawl to the top again after regaining his aura in a turnaround season this year. 

The 29-year-old rejoined Dynamos at the start of the year following a lukewarm stay at Ngezi Platinum Stars over the past two years. 

He had initially been scheduled for a loan stay at the Glamour Boys, having been told to look for playing time elsewhere as he would be limited at the Mhondoro miners. 

But he ended up forcing a two-year deal with his old team, which he left in 2019. 

And the decision to switch permanently to DeMbare did pay dividends as Kadonzvo proved vital for Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowe’s charges. 

With five goals to his name, the silky winger was the Glamour Boys’ top scorer in the league, and he was also instrumental in the Chibuku Super Cup, which Dynamos retained for the second year running.

That he was at Ngezi, who won the league last year, and he is with Dynamos, who won the Chibuku Super Cup this year, means he has become a league and cup champion for two years in succession. 

And he is hoping his revitalised form will lead him back to the top. 

“That is the hope and the spirit. I am very happy to have seen my game crawl back on,” said Kadonzvo. 

“It was a very good year for me and my teammates. Look, I have faced a lot of struggles as a player in recent years. 

“But I decided to move back to Dynamos, where I know the environment and the expectations. 

“The spiritual knowledge that I possess on this team helped me in a lot of ways. 

“The telepathy that I have with the fans and some of the players came to the fore, and all that benefitted me in a lot of ways.

“It’s unfortunate in part that I had to sit out some games through injury. 

“But that didn’t exactly deter me from giving out my best. 

“I did step up to the plate, and I am really happy to have seen my form back on. I am looking forward to the 2025 season with renewed focus. 

“I hope to improve in all aspects and be able to grind back to the top. I am very happy at Dynamos, and I want to help the team achieve their targets next term.”

Kadonzvo will be expected to help the Glamour Boys as they venture back to the CAF Confederation Cup from which they crashed out in the second preliminary stage this year. 

They will also be looking to improve from their ninth-place finish from this term.
