AMBITIOUS former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League outfit Bulawayo Chiefs have appointed veteran coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe as their new boss.
Chiefs were relegated to the Zifa Southern Region Division One League at the end of the past season before they parted ways with their then-coach, Thulani “Thuts” Sibanda.
Sibanda is heavily tipped with a move to Bulawayo football giants Highlanders’ development.
Last season, the tried and tested Jongwe was with Chegutu Pirates, who were also relegated from the local elite football league following a one-year dance.
“Bulawayo Chiefs FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe to the position of senior team head coach. Takaendesa holds a Caf A diploma and has vast knowledge in coaching, as he has been a coaching instructor,” said Amakhosi Amahle in a statement.
They added, “With his experience, passion, and dedication to the sport, we are confident that Takaendesa will be a great asset to our team, helping us achieve our goals.”
Jongwe has also coached Caps United, Yadah Stars, and the now-defunct Monomotapa, who were crowned league champions several years ago under the guidance of ex-Warriors captain Norman Mapeza.
The well-travelled Jongwe was also the Zifa technical director until his departure from the post in 2014.
