Former ZIFA Northern Region Division One chairperson Francis Zimunya believes his election to the new ZIFA board will bring stability.

Zimunya is vying for the vice president’s post in the new board, which is set to be elected later this month.

The veteran football administrator revealed that his election into the new ZIFA board will bring stability to the local football mother body.

“Standing in the upcoming elections was not my wish, but it was by public demand.

“The football stakeholders felt that me being on the ZIFA board will bring stability and also play an advisory role,” said Zimunya.

Having been involved in football for close to five decades, Zimunya feels he has a lot to offer to Zimbabwean football.

“Football needs me.

“I am an advisor not only to ZIFA but to the Ministry and SRC,” boasted Zimunya.

Zimunya said that the previous boards have been rocked by instability.

“If you look at the previous boards, they have been silent coups within ZIFA.

“The vice presidents have been responsible for all these coups because they were undermining the authority. I am here to protect the president, so whoever is going to be elected has the support of me, and we want to close that chapter.

“Nobody will dare undermine the president under my watch, said Zimunya.

Zimunya, who has been moving around the country championing development programmes, said what he has done was to show how easy it is to implement development programmes.

“We have been carrying out development projects around the country, and I believe if elected to the board, I will make sure there is continuity of development,” he said.
