HARARE-based Cue Masters Pool League (CMPL) are looking forward to joining the elite Zimbabwe Professional Pool Association (ZIPPA) as an affiliate in 2025.
Pool as a sport has been growing in leaps and bounds with several associations like the Manicaland Pool League (MPL), Matabeleland Pool League (MTPL), Harare Pool League (HPL), and the National Pool League (NEPAZ).
CPLM have been an affiliate of the Harare Pool League and played more in the social league but have since decided to join the professional sides.
James Takavarasha, the league chairman, has since pledged that they will go a notch up and make sure that they join the elite ZIPPA in the not-so-distant future.
“We are happy that we managed to complete all our league games, which covers Harare, Chitungwiza, Norton, and Nyabira. It is our hope that we will join the national association ZIPPA in the near future.
“Pool has been growing, and we are happy that the associations work well with the mother body, and we will always try to be up-to-date and affiliate.”
Takavada said their 2024 awards ceremony was a game changer for the sport after Mabelreign-based LIGI Pool Club were crowned the 2024 champions.
The club was rewarded for their effort recently at a colourful event at City Bowling Club in Harare Gardens.
The side that boasts of over 30 members was outstanding throughout the season, losing only once during the campaign.
The side walked home US$1 300 richer for their performances through sponsorship from Ecosure and Staysun Investments.
