NEWLY-crowned ZIFA Harare Province Division Two champions, Ali Sundowns, will get their crowning tomorrow afternoon when they receive their silverware and medals at a function in the capital.
Harare province chairman Robert Tembo hailed the Mabvuku-based for their resilience and perseverance.
A youthful outfit long on ambition, Ali Sundowns will be joining the Northern Region Soccer League for the first time in 23 years.
Last year, Ali Sundowns had the opportunity to join the Division One League when Simbisa Brands, who had won the championship, decided against taking their place in the country’s second tier division.
Ali Sundowns had finished third, but club director Desmund Ali declined the opportunity, insisting that they would wait for their time to win the league.
“We had an opportunity for Ali Sundows to join Northern Region last year after the first and second-placed sides failed to commit themselves.
“But Ali felt there was a need for the team to regroup, and we gave them the opportunity, and now that they won the championship, they have committed to being part of Division One.
“We are happy that the owner of the team, Ali, has committed to being part of the Championship next year, and we are hopeful they will do well.
“Remember last year we gave the slot to Scottland, and they have since been promoted to the Premier League.
“We are good at producing good teams, and I believe Ali Sundowns will not disappoint.
“So we will be honouring our champions, and we hope they will represent us well in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One,” said Tembo.
