Every man, who feels ready to get married, has a typical woman whom he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
But a lot are worried about the kind of woman they will settle down with, even if they are in the dating stages, the question that always pops up is, “is she the one I prayed for?”
Kwaito musician Mawiza is also a statistic among men who are skeptical about the kind of wife they will marry.
The Entumbane-bred muso released a song titled Umfazi Engizamthatha (The Wife I Will Marry), expressing what he expects from his future wife.
The catchy cross-genre gem, on which he worked closely with Afro-Pop lyricist Bhila and Czech Republic-based Afro musician Mamozi, with Skido credited as the producer of the song, promises to be an anthem.
At least, Mawiza has a clue about the kind of person he wants to marry.
“Ithi ngutshele ngomfaz’engizam’thatha. Ngifuna umfazi ozong’zalela amantombazane, umfazi, okhuthele njengo wam’ umama, umfaz’odinga ukuthula noma sxabana (Let me tell you about the woman I want to marry. I want a wife who will bare daughters for me. A wife who will be like my mother, who prefers to make peace each time we argue)” are some of the lyrics that Mawiza intones in the song.
For a song that features artistes with diverse backgrounds, albeit who are all excelling in their field of work, the final product is a seamless pleasure to the ears.
Bhila lays a formidable harmony of love ballads, with Mamozi spicing things up with his Nambya/Nanzwa lyrics, bringing multiplicity to the project.
“I started writing this song last year. When I came up with the sketch of how I wanted to structure the song, I approached Bhila with the idea and he agreed to be part of the collaboration.
“In December, Mamozi was in the country from the Czech Republic and I pitched the idea to him and the rest is history as we teamed up for this joint.
“When choosing the artistes on this collaboration I was very particular. Bhila and Mamozi are doing great in their fields. So, I did this so I can tap into their world, their genre and following,” said Mawiza.
The multi-award-winning Kwaito kingpin said as Valentine’s Day is approaching, he is dedicating the song to those who are in love, encouraging them to be genuine with each other and have everlasting unions.
“Most people who are dating have a dream or goal to get married someday and this is their song as we celebrate Valentine’s. I urge guys to have a genuine reason for dating and not waste the other party’s time.
“As men we expect to marry a wife who will respect you, and cherish love by taking you as you are. This is a song that teaches wives to be responsible in their marriages,” said Mawiza.
