HE has swept most of the major local awards one can think, and added some international ones for good measure.

But, for sensational Marabi and Jazz maestro Jeys Marabini, to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award is a fulfilment that puts the cherry on top of his three-decade career.

The Kozekulunge Band front man was bestowed with a lifetime achievement gong at The Eminent in Sports, Music and Academic (Tesma) awards which were held on 17 December in Gwanda.

The awards were created in 2019 to honour outstanding artistes, athletes, students and teachers from Matabeleland South, and Marabini, a creative who was born in Filabusi, qualifies to be bestowed as an ancestor of the region and beyond.

He cherishes the award which he said is a testimony of hard work, perseverance and consistence.

โ€œI just received my lifetime achievement award from the organisers of the Tesma awards as I couldnโ€™t grace the ceremony because of shows and tight schedules.ย

โ€œHolding the award with my hands is fulfilling. I am grateful for this accolade because it is the most decorated piece that I have received in my career that spans over 30 years,โ€ said Marabini.
