Last weekend saw many showbiz activities taking place at the border town in Beitbridge, with the most exciting gig being the re-opening of the Pagomba Café, which closed for a couple of months as it went under refurbishment.
On its grand re-opening, the night spot hosted a gig headlined by Baba Harare, Enzo Ishall and Ndunge Yut.
The event created a dynamic musical fusion of regional and city flavours as also local creatives in the names of the Thoma Ngene Murena hitmaker Bhadilah and Mark Geezo also had a chance to mesmerise fans with their music as they took to the stage.
Tapiwa Gandiwa who is the proprietor of Pagomba Café promised that this year there will be entertainment and showbiz galore at Beitbridge as he has plans of bringing significant entertainment at the town, through hosting gigs featuring Mzansi, Harare, Bulawayo and artistes from all the walks of life.
He said that he appreciates the raw talent at the border town and he will stride and do all means to help local creatives to realise their dreams by giving them a chance to showcase their talent and be huge artistes.
As he also acquired Konka Pub, which is closer to the vibrant Pagomba, Gandiwa said clients will have diversity and choice of attending shows according to their musical taste, as different themed events will be hosted at these places throughout the year, bringing a cosmopolitan vibe in the town.
“We opened Pagomba last week as we hosted a gig which had various artistes like Enzo Ishall, Baba Harare, Bhadilah to mention a few. We are excited because we managed to attract a descent crowd which is a sign that locals were starving for such entertainment.
“We promise to do more shows of this kind throughout the year and provide quality entertainment for the people of Beitbridge.
“This place has a lot of budding artistes who are natural and talented. It is one of our drives to promote local talent and we will make sure that every time we are hosting an event, we will fuse the line up with many local creatives so that we help them realise their dreams and be established artistes,” said Gandiwa.
He said they will host different artistes this year such as Alick Macheso, Jah Signal, Insimbi ZeZhwane, Godolude, Leonard Zhakata, Peter Moyo, DJ Fantan and Levels, as well as a number of Mzansi’s top acts. Dates for these shows will be announced soon.
