THE 8th annual National Thanksgiving and Dedication Service is eagerly anticipated by people from all walks of life.
This momentous event will be held at ZITF Hall 4 tomorrow and promises to offer spiritual rejuvenation, fellowship, and inspiration.
President Mnangagwa will officiate at the event, which runs under the theme “Our Country, Our Opportunity”. This annual service has been a cornerstone event since 2017, demonstrating Zimbabwe’s profound appreciation for divine guidance in its journey of progress and development.
Initiated by President Mnangagwa after the establishment of the Second Republic, the service has become an annual tradition that fosters a strong platform for spiritual communion between the nation’s leadership and its people.
The Faith for the Nation Campaign (FNC) and the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC) have collaborated to organise this event. The National Thanksgiving and Dedication Service provides a crucial space for believers to intercede for the continued blessings and prosperity of Zimbabwe, recognising the vital role of faith in national advancement.
Prophet Andrew Wutawunashe, founder of the Family of God Church and chairman of FNC and ZIICC, stated that this year’s Thanksgiving and Dedication Service is unique. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate, emphasising the event’s inclusivity and community-building.
“This year’s event is very special as everyone is invited to attend. We are not selecting any denomination or sect; everyone is supposed to be there.
“Another special aspect of the event is that people from SADC countries like Botswana, Zambia, and others will be present, so it is unreasonable for one to miss such an occasion,” said Prophet Wutawunashe.
He said chiefs from around the country, captains of industry, and other well-known figures are expected to attend the event.
Prophet Wutawunashe said the service aims to bring people together and reflect on the nation’s past achievements.
“This service is aimed at bringing everyone in the country together so that we can reflect on our achievements as a nation during the year and map a way forward.
“This is not only for the church; it’s a collaboration between the church and the government because for a country to progress, God should be involved, as it is said that leaders are from God,” he said.
The meeting will also dedicate time to pray for rain across the country.
“It is the job of the church to pray for rain and anything that affects the country. It is even quoted in the Bible that it is a responsibility to pray for one’s country. We are also going to pray for our children, as issues of drug and substance abuse have become a new normal for our kids,” said Prophet Wutawunashe.
As the year draws to a close, it is time for all Zimbabweans to unite and come together to pray for the country’s prosperity in the coming years, he said.
