OPERA musician Michael Mikartin, has been crowned the winner of Bulawayo Got Talent Season One, marking a significant milestone in his career after triumphing over other talented emerging artistes in the City of Kings and Queens.

The grand finale of the talent search show was held at the Trademark Centre in Bulawayo Centre Mall, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of the city and showcasing its artistic talent.

From gospel music and Pantsula dance performances to opera, spoken word and poetry, the top five finalists gave it their all, vying for a prize package worth aspiring for: US$500 in cash, a trip to the majestic Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a recording contract.

For any aspiring artiste, such a package offers a golden opportunity: financial support, a creative retreat to ignite artistic ideas and a chance to record in a studio—potentially the launchpad to stardom in the creative industry.

The finale featured 10 contestants, each tasked with delivering two stand-out performances to secure a place in the top five.

The finalists who made it to the top five included gifted gospel artiste Anitah Dube, Pantsula dance group Kasi Mission, opera singer Michael Mikartin with his mesmerising voice and emotional delivery, Ndebele spoken word artist Anele Nkundlandle and dancehall performer, Captain We Entertainment.

In the next round, the top five had to deliver three of their best performances, narrowing the competition further to the Top Three.

Dancehall performer, Captain We Entertainment impressed fans with his high-energy performance, earning him third place, while gospel artiste Anitah Dube claimed second. Ultimately, it was opera singer Michael Mikartin who clinched the coveted title, winning the grand prize.
