WITH a fierce determination, Kwekwe United coach, Prince Matore, is vying to end the year with another iconic triumph — winning the inaugural Champion of Champions competition.

This significant event is set to take place at Bata Stadium in Gweru on Saturday and Sunday.

The tournament features the recently promoted teams to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Scottland FC, Kwekwe United, ZPC Hwange, and Triangle United who will fiercely compete in the inaugural competition.

Matore and his Kwekwe United squad have already accomplished the significant feat of becoming the first team from the City of Gold to ascend to the top-flight league since Lancashire Steel in 2009.

However, their thirst for victory hasn’t been quenched, and they’re aiming to secure another achievement by seizing the chance to grab silverware before the year ends.

“This will be a meeting of regional champions, and we want to be the champions and rule everyone. We are fully focused on winning the knockout competition. We know it won’t be easy, but we are confident in our abilities and are looking forward to the challenge,” said Matore.

Matore urged Kwekwe United fans to come and support the team over the weekend.

“We will need their energy and enthusiasm to drive us on and help us achieve our goal. We are all excited about the prospect of winning the competition, and we hope that our fans will join us in celebrating what we hope will be a successful weekend,” said Matore.

In the first semi-final, Central Region champions, Kwekwe United, will face Eastern Region champions, Triangle United, while Northern Region champions, Scotland FC, will take on Southern Region champions, ZPC Hwange, in the second semi-final.

The competition promises to be highly exciting given these are champions from the four Zifa regions in the country.
