MR Precious Madzimbe, a Bulawayo-based paediatric physiotherapist, has bagged four prestigious awards at the recently held National Medical Excellence Awards in Harare.
The annual event celebrates exceptional contributions from healthcare providers across the country.
The National Medical Excellence Awards aim to recognise outstanding clinicians and healthcare professionals who have significantly advanced healthcare standards, improved patient safety and fostered innovation in medical practice.
Among the categories, Mr Madzimbe triumphed in outstanding physiotherapy practice, compassionate care award, pioneering work in physiotherapy, and excellence in physiotherapy research.
Reflecting on his achievements, Mr Madzimbe expressed gratitude for the recognition.
“It was an incredible honour to receive four prestigious awards at the Medical Excellence Awards Ceremony. As a physiotherapist based in Bulawayo, this recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the transformative impact of physiotherapy in healthcare,” he stated.
Mr Madzimbe said the accolades serve as an endorsement of the quality of physiotherapy services available in Bulawayo.
“This underscores the significance of both adult and paediatric physiotherapy in enhancing the quality of life, restoring function and promoting independence for individuals across the lifespan. Whether through helping adults recover from injury or illness or supporting children with developmental delays, physiotherapy remains a cornerstone of comprehensive healthcare,” he said.
The multi-award-winning physiotherapist noted that the recognition reaffirms the value of dedication, innovation and collaboration within the medical field.
It serves as an inspiration for him to continue striving for excellence in improving patient outcomes and advocating for holistic rehabilitation, particularly in under-served communities.
“These awards are not just mine; they are a celebration of what we, as professionals, can achieve when we are passionate and committed to making a difference,” he said.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Madzimbe is an accomplished author with several published books focusing on physiotherapy and men’s health.
His latest publication, Prostate Cancer in Africa: Family Involvement, Faith as Pillars of Support, has reached over one million readers and is currently available in English, Ndau and Shona.
He aims to further this initiative by translating the book into various languages to engage people across Southern Africa.
“I will be distributing a Ndau copy soon. I call upon other Zimbabweans to come on board to support this project. Let’s keep spreading the word because #MensHealth Matters,” he urged.
Among his other notable works, Mr Madzimbe has co-authored books such as Participation of Fathers and Siblings in Home Rehabilitation Programmes for Children with Neuro-Developmental Delay: A Scoping Review and Prevalence of Developmental Delay and Associated Risk Factors among At Risk Surveillance System (ARSS) Children at United Bulawayo Hospitals, Zimbabwe. His scholarly contributions include Paediatric Physiotherapy: Patient Assessment in the African Context.
