LOVE is sweet when one is still loved by the other partner.
But when the two go separate ways, the other partner often struggles to accept the situation and may become bitter.
This was the experience of a Bulawayo woman Samantha Muhambi at the hands of her lover’s ex-partner.
She told the Bulawayo Civil Court that last Monday, she accompanied her partner to a school where his child is learning.
Upon arriving at the school, they encountered her lover’s ex-partner, Zandile Ncube, who shares a child with him.
Zandile became angry and questioned Samantha’s presence, asking why she was visiting the child when she was not the mother.
The situation escalated, and Zandile grabbed Samantha by the neck and punched her.
Parents and teachers had to restrain Zandile. Samantha said Zandile later escalated the situation by posting her nude photos on social media and live-streaming on Instagram verbally attacking her.
In response, Zandile vehemently denied ever posting nude photos of Samantha on social media but admitted to assaulting her.
“I never did that. Her phone was in the hands of my child, who uploaded her nudes on social media. I never went live on Instagram to speak badly about her,” she said.
She added, “I admit I beat her up after I met her at a school where my child learns.
“I got angry because she had visited the school as a parent of my child, even though she is not.”
Presiding magistrate Challenge Mahembe sternly warned Zandile to stop cyberbullying her love rival, emphasising that it is a criminal offence.
Samantha was granted a peace order, preventing Zandile from verbally and physically abusing her.
Zandile was also ordered to stop cyberbullying Samantha.
