THE wheels of justice in the brutal murder of a woman from Nkuba Village under Chief Tshugulu in Nkayi, Matabeleland North province by her husband who was reportedly walking free have started turning following the arrest of the alleged wife killer and his subsequent appearance in court.
Bon Yisaya from Madlambuzi in Plumtree, Matabeleland South province is accused of murdering his wife Sibonakaliso Fuzane (38) on 11 August at around 3am following a dispute over witchcraft.
Gory and chilling details have emerged about the horrific crime following revelations that Bon who accused his wife of bewitching him brutally stabbed her several times in the chest, once in the throat with an okapi knife before he further cut open her throat.
After committing the grisly act he allegedly took his wifeโs lifeless body and crossed with it into Botswana where he dumped it in a bush barely a kilometre from the Zimbabwean border.
Despite committing the heinous crime, Bon was not arrested, leaving the now deceasedโs family devastated and desperately pursuing all avenues of justice for their daughter.
Bon was arrested and for the heinous crime he appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on Friday last week facing a murder charge.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 13 October. The magistrate advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
Bonโs arrest came after B-Metro published a story in which the family said they were enduring immense pain and frustration as they witnessed the man responsible for the death of their daughter seemingly unaffected by his actions.
He had been reportedly seen at his home and drinking as if nothing had happened, something which did not go down well with Sibonakalisoโs family witnessing someone who allegedly murdered their daughter walking freely without facing any consequences for his actions.
Narrating the incident to B-Metro, family spokesperson Kilton Fuzane said that his heart was hurting because of their daughterโs death, adding that they were pleading for justice to be served and for Bon to be arrested and prosecuted for his heinous crime.
โThe brutal murder of Sibonakaliso at the hands of her husband, Bon Yisaya, has left us a family devastated and seeking justice. Despite the brutal nature of the crime, Bon is walking free, as the Zimbabwean police claim jurisdictional limitations due to the fact that the incident occurred across the border in Botswana.
โThe pain and frustration continue to grow as we are waiting for the necessary paperwork and coordination between authorities to ensure Bonโs arrest and trial.
โThe Zimbabwean police claim they cannot arrest him since the crime occurred across the border in Botswana.
โThey are arguing that proper documentation and coordination with the Botswana police are necessary for the case to be transferred and for Bon to be held accountable,โ Kilton said sorrowfully.
