Controversial South African traditional healer Bhongolethu Mzozo, famously known as Dr Khehlelezi, is set to make a trip to the country as he will be part of drifters and spinners at the Festive Burn Outs event slated for 21 December at ZKS Spinners Arena in Bulawayo.
Drifting and spinning are driving techniques that involve deliberately losing traction and controlling the car through sharp turns or circles. The drivers often get out of their moving cars and strike poses, adding to the drama and flair of the performance.
Dr Khehlelezi who is also a bishop at his Zion church — Isithelo Sika Jehovah, is famously known for his prowess in the traditional and spiritual realm, credited to have helped many Mzansi celebrities from music, sports, business and politics through divine intervention for them to succeed in their careers.
However, his major visit to the City of Kings and Queens will be spinning, a sport that he says he “loves so much.”
He will also have an opportunity to fellowship on the night of the event at his church’s new branch which is located in Pumula suburb.
Founder and proprietor of ZKS Spinners Arena Zakhele Mabaso said he met Dr Khehlelezi at his car tyres company located in Bulawayo, as he had a puncture.
“I met Dr Khehlelezi sometime last year when he visited my company Veezed tyre and alignment centre as his car had a puncture. When I saw him, he looked familiar as I had seen him on social media.
“When I approached him I then learnt that he is the famous South African traditional healer who has helped a lot of people. We exchanged numbers and we would talk from time to time.
“When we created ZKS Spinners Arena this year, I would advertise posters on my timeline and WhatsApp status. One day he commented and told me that he is a serious spinner and he would love to come to Bulawayo and showcase his skill. We then decided that he would come to ZKS as one of the headliners on 21 December,” said Mabaso.
With Khehlelezi also having an interest in leisure business through his Mzo Lifestyle Pup and Grill in Durban, Mabaso said he was looking forward to learning a lot from Khehlelezi businesswise.
Mabaso said he was content with what the arena — a first of its kind in Bulawayo, has achieved this year. He said they were looking forward to expanding the arena and turning it into a multi-purpose sporting and leisure facility.
“I believe Dr Khekhelezi’s visit to the city is a blessing to me as I also have an interest in leisure. Remember, he runs Mzo Lifestyle which has promoted a number of Mzansi acts from DJ Tira, DJ Bongs and a number of Gospel acts like Thina Zungu. This is also a path I want to diversify into.
“ZKS has been growing this year as we managed to host sold-out events. But as we go into 2025, we are looking forward to expanding. We are in talks with the city council as we want to build a multi-purpose sporting facility that will cater for different sports disciplines, not spinning only,” said Mabaso.
