A man who was in the habit of physically and verbally abusing his mother has been brought to court.
Erita Midzi of Pumula South in Bulawayo testified in court that she could not bear the abuse she suffered from her son Kudakwashe Motsi, who habitually insulted her in the presence of her grandchildren.
Midzi further told the court that she was recently involved in a heated argument with her son, who, in the heat of the moment, assaulted her by hitting her on the head with a chair.
She applied for a protection order against her son at Western Commonage Courts, seeking to have him removed from her home so that she can live in peace.
โIโm being tormented by my son. He has a tendency of insulting me whenever we are involved in an argument. Last week on Tuesday he came home late and when I asked him why he came home late and woke me up during the night he picked a chair and hit me on the head.
โHe always threatens to chase me from my house. I no longer want him to stay at my house,โ her affidavit reads in part.
In responseย Motsi apologised for his behaviour.
The presiding magistrate Mehluli Moyo granted Midzi the protection order.
Motsi was barred from insulting, assaulting and threatening his mother.ย He was also barred from chasing her from the house.
