Sex workers’ dark secret: Clients’ sperm is used to make juju

WHILE prostitution is nothing new, a disturbing new trend has emerged in Bulawayo. Men who opt for prostitutes, believing it’s a casual, no-strings-attached or commitment-free arrangement, may want to reconsider.

This follows sensational revelations that commercial sex workers are reportedly using juju made from their clients’ sperms to lure and retain them, either as regulars or long-term partners.

A week-long investigation by B-Metro revealed that this sinister practice, used to compete for clients, may have been responsible for the woes suffered by some men, including erectile dysfunction, marital crisis, business failure, and even death.

Investigations also revealed that when attempts to extract semen from unsuspecting and alert male clients failed, the sex workers would rub fetish powder on their nipples and offer them to their clients to suck.

After sucking the breasts, the clients would lose consciousness, and the sex workers would collect their semen and take it to witches to guarantee a steady stream of clients, if not husbands.

In separate interviews, commercial sex workers who spoke to this publication revealed that beauty alone was not enough to succeed in this business; retaining clients was the most crucial factor.
Some of them admitted to using muthi to attract and keep clients, highlighting the lengths to which they go to ensure a steady income.

“A lot of things happen in this profession as a result of competition. After servicing clients, we don’t throw away the used condoms with sperms but hide and take them to a sangoma as quickly as possible.

“We tightly tie the necks of the condoms to prevent the contents from spilling, then carefully wrap them in toilet paper and store them in our handbags. This allows us to carry these essential items without drawing unnecessary attention.

“Some sangomas are located near our operating areas to ensure the semen is fresh, as delayed delivery can weaken the sperms. The sangoma uses then semen to create a powerful charm by mixing it with various powders. Once a client is subjected to this charm, they become a loyal customer or partner,” explained a commercial sex worker who identified herself as Noe.

Another commercial sex worker revealed the charms made from sperms can be applied to the body like lotion or carried in a handbag.

“These charms exert a powerful influence over clients, making them more susceptible to our desires and demands. When applied as a lotion, these charms heighten sexual appeal, deepen emotional connections, and ultimately increase clients’ affection towards us. These enhanced powers also attract men as partners, drawing them irresistibly to us,” she said.

She added: “Some sex workers also wear beads tied around their waists. These are not just for decoration; they are charms provided by sangomas to enhance their business. Additionally, the sperm-based lotion can be applied directly to these beads, attracting customers and potentially turning them into regulars or long-term partners”.

Another commercial sex worker, who went by the name of Cindy, said they also work with cleaners, especially when clients refuse to succumb to the trappings by taking the condoms and throwing them in the bin, or when they demand that they go out of the room together, where they would not have an opportunity to take the condom with sperms with them.

“When clients throw them away, we enlist the help of cleaners to retrieve the used condoms for a fee. The process of harvesting sperms is also easier from clients who demand unprotected sex, as the sperms can be easily retrieved after the session,” she explained.

Khulu Aaron Sibanda, who usually operates from Emkambo market in Makokoba suburb, confirmed that as a result of competition, most commercial sex workers were resorting to using umuthi, sometimes made from sperms, which often causes some men to suffer from erectile dysfunction or abandon their wives for these commercial sex workers.

“It’s true that as a result of competition in the streets, most prostitutes now resort to umuthi, which has seen their clients becoming regular clients or permanent partners.

“There are several charms they use to trap these men, including one where they take sperms from their clients and give them to traditional healers to make strong charms to create an intimate connection with their clients.

“This method can even be used by girlfriends to keep men from leaving them. That is why, sometimes, when a man with such a charm wants to have sex with his wife, his manhood will not rise to the occasion, but when he goes to a girlfriend or a regular commercial sex worker, it will rise without any hassle,” he said.
