IT reads like an extract from a fictitious movie script but it’s real.
A man from Nketa suburb in Bulawayo is embroiled in an acrimonious wrangle with his late wife’s uncle over the paternity of a child he claimed was his after the latter reportedly named himself as the father on the child’s birth certificate.
The uncle who claimed the child was also his daughter sensationally revealed that he also slept with his now deceased niece.
According to a well-placed source, Tshipisa Nkomo (64) of Nketa suburb was customarily married to the late Linet Dube.
It is reported that Dube introduced Nkomo to Themba Ndlela (83) and told him that he was her uncle and they used to stay in the same suburb.
During the subsistence of their marriage Nkomo claimed that is when he had a child with Dube.
“We had a child together and before we could take the birth certificate for the child I was transferred to Masvingo,” he said.
While he was in Masvingo his wife was reportedly staying with Ndlela.
“While I was in Masvingo my wife was staying with Ndlela and I believe it was at that time that Ndlela and my wife connived and took the birth certificate for our child. Now Ndlela is named as the biological father of the child,” he said.
When Nkomo approached Dube’s parents he was told the child was staying with Ndlela and he went there and took the child.
When he took the child he was shocked when he was slapped with summons indicating that he had taken the child that was not his.
This came to light when the pair appeared in court fighting over custody of the child.
In court Ndlela reportedly insisted that he was the biological father of the child. He openly and unashamedly declared that he fell in love with
Dube between 2014 and 2016 and during that time that is when he impregnated her.
“Our love affair came to an end in 2016 when I discovered that she was in love with Nkomo. But I did not stop supporting the child because I’m certain that the child is mine,” he said.
Surprisingly Ndlela said the child in question knows him as his uncle.
“The child is not emotionally close to me as such she knows me as her uncle because that is what her mother told her before her death,” he said.
The magistrate advised the pair to do a DNA test so as to put the matter to rest. They have since done the DNA tests and they are now waiting for the results.
When Ndlela was contacted to explain whether the child was his or not , he hung up.
