IF there is any conflict in a Christian marriage does the man have the right to hit his wife?
Definitely not!
A pastor with a local church from Mpopoma suburb in Bulawayoย shocked his congregants when he was arrested for assaulting his wife following a dispute over infidelity.
The incident occurred after an evening service at their church in Mpopoma suburb where the man of God Tendai Chari, claims to have witnessed a fellow congregant winking at his wife Miriam Chari.
According to sources close to the couple, Tendai had been harbouring suspicions of his wifeโs alleged affair for quite some time.
However, it was on a Tuesday evening that his emotions reached boiling point, leading to a violent altercation at their residence.
Tendai reportedly assaulted Miriam with fists, resulting in her sustaining severe injuries.
Miriam reportedly tried countless times to explain to her husband that she was not cheating on him but was just doing her duties as a pastorโs wife which required her to accommodate anyone regardless of their gender .
She went on to describe the man who was suspected to be the one she cheated with as generally friendly and says her husband misunderstood the whole situation.
Mirriam, determined to seek justice, immediately reported the incident to the police who swiftly responded to her distress call and arrested Tendai.
Tendai was brought before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa, charged with physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) as read with Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custodyย for sentencing.
