Nasty neighbours’ fight over poo

Danisa Masuku

A woman from Bulawayo’s Mabutweni suburb has taken her neighbour to court after she allegedly accused her of throwing human waste into her yard.

Jane Maphosa sought a peace order against Precious Mangara claiming she was accusing her of being a witch.

She claimed Mangara was telling people in the suburb that she once caught her during the night sprinkling water mixed with muthi in her yard.

As if that was not enough Maphosa claimed that Mangara also confronted her at her home and insulted her while accusing her of leaving human waste in her yard.

She reportedly took the human waste to a prophet who told her that it was Maphosa who had left it there.
“I’m applying for a peace order against my neighbour Precious Mangara who is going around telling people that I’m a witch.

She claims that she was told by her prophet that I left human excrement in her yard. “She further claims that she spotted me sprinkling water in her yard during the night. At times she comes to my house to shout at me and beat me up,” her application reads in part.

Maphosa said her life had been one punctuated with name-calling and at times being bashed by Mangara.
In response Mangara didn’t dispute the accusations levelled against her by Maphosa. “When I was sweeping early in the morning, I saw human waste in my yard and I took it to a church prophet who told me that it was Maphosa who had dumped it there.

“After that I saw her during the night sprinkling water mixed with muthi in my yard, and she ran away after realising that I had seen her,” she said.

The presiding magistrate Sikhethile Moyo granted Maphosa a peace order.
Mangara was ordered not to label her neighbour a witch and was also barred from going to her house.
