Musician ShoMadjozi quits

MULTI-AWARD-winning South African artiste Sho Madjozi has announced her decision to step away from the music industry.

The vibrant performer, known for her energetic shows and signature Xibelani dance moves, revealed plans to release a final album next year, marking a significant transition in her artistic journey.

At 32 years old and originally from Limpopo, Sho Madjozi, celebrated for her hit single Chale, expressed her desire to explore creative avenues beyond music. In an interview with Daily Sun, she shared her upcoming project โ€” a documentary highlighting the history of Xibelani โ€” alongside plans for a cultural festival aimed at celebrating her heritage.

Her latest release, Ndi Rine, features collaborations with Venda pop sensation Makhadzi and maskandi artiste Gatsheni, blending Xitsonga, Xivenda, and isiZulu influences.

This track serves as a precursor to her anticipated third and final album, set to debut in early 2025. The playful song emphasises cultural evolution and joy in various relationship statuses.
Sho articulated her vision for the future, stating: โ€œIโ€™m a cultural innovator, and the music project and fame have become so dominant that I canโ€™t pursue other interests.โ€
She aims to create films based on village life, develop Xitsonga-inspired fashion, and document traditional cuisine. Additionally, she hopes to enhance educational opportunities for youth in her village and initiate a Xibelani festival that could rival Caribbean carnivals.
Her career began with the debut album โ€œLimpopo Champions Leagueโ€ in 2018, followed by โ€œWhat A Lifeโ€ in 2020.
As she prepares to share her vibrant culture through new platforms, Sho Madjozi invites everyone to join her in celebrating the Xibelani beat and embracing cultural heritage. (www.afrogazette.co.zw)
