A 42-YEAR-OLD man from Makokoba suburb in Bulawayo has been slapped with an effective 10-year jail term for inserting his fingers into his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter’s private parts.
Ngqabutho Dube, who appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza facing two counts of rape and aggravated indecent assault, had the first count dropped due to lack of evidence.
He, however, pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault and was sentenced to 10 years in jail.
The court heard that sometime in February this year and at around 7pm, the culprit went to the victim’s home, and he found her playing with her uncle.
He then gave the juvenile’s uncle his phone to play some games and he left.
While the juvenile’s uncle was away, the perpetrator asked her to sit on his lap and she complied. Dube then inserted his fingers into the minor girl’s private parts before taking her back into the house.
After indecently assaulting her, he told the juvenile not to tell anyone about the incident.
The matter, however, came to light when the juvenile’s grandmother discovered some bruises on the victim’s private parts and a yellow discharge.
When she quizzed her that is when the juvenile narrated the incident, and this led to the arrest of Dube.
