A man who allegedly punched and kicked another man who owed him money before he stripped him naked and force-marched him to the shops where he allegedly instructed him to dance while naked has appeared in court.

Mitchel Shaba from Northend suburb appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Temba Chimiso facing charges of assault and kidnapping.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to 16 October.

It is alleged that sometime in July this year Bothwell Chimbunde (51) borrowed US$50 from Shabaโ€™s wife.

It is said that Chimbunde fell sick and was then admitted to a hospital for a month and was discharged sometime in August this year.

Last month Chimbunde went to Shabaโ€™s home and paid US$20 before leaving for his home.

That did not go down well with Shaba who followed him after a couple of minutes and accused him of failing to pay him.

In a fit of anger he thrashed him with a belt and slapped him all over the body, the court heard.

After that he allegedly took his blanket, flash disc, health card and indemnity card.

As if that was not enough he allegedly grabbed him by his neck before he ordered him to strip naked and force-marched him to Northend shops where he allegedly ordered him to dance naked in full view of imbibers and shoppers.

After the humiliating act Chimbunde went and reported the matter to the police leading to Shabaโ€™s arrest.
