“YOU can spill anything but not my beer”.
These are the words which were supposedly said by one Tinashe Moyo who allegedly caused a stir at a sports bar in Bulawayo’s Nketa suburb when he axed a fellow imbiber for allegedly spilling his beer.
Kudakwashe Muzanenhamo (28) was drinking beer at the sports bar in question when he stood up going to the toilet and things turned nasty for him.
“Muzanenhamo was heavily intoxicated. As he staggered from the counter he stumbled and fell on Moyo and his beer spilled. Moyo got angry and asked him to buy his beer but Muzanenhamo refused and started hurling insults at him. That sparked a fierce argument between the two parties,” said a witness.
As tempers flared, Moyo dug into his trouser’s pocket and took a small axe, and sensing danger Muzanenhamo fled from the scene.
“Moyo chased after him and caught up with him and struck him on the head and the axe was left stuck on his head. He immediately collapsed while writhing in agony and in the process he was also bleeding profusely,” said a witness.
Soon after that Moyo ran away.
Muzanenhamo was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is reportedly still admitted. The incident was reported at Tshabalala Police Station and police are yet to arrest Moyo.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident. “We strongly discourage community members from resorting to violence whenever they are involved in disputes but they should solve their differences peacefully,” he said.
