Maid endures early morning rape, robbery

Danisa Masuku

WHILE a maid was busy cleaning the house in the morning, a man wearing a balaclava rushed into the living room and grabbed her by the throat.

He then dragged her into the bedroom where he allegedly raped her before robbing her of US$120 and her cellphone.

The incident happened in Paddonhurst suburb and was confirmed by Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube.

โ€œI can confirm that we are investigating a case of rape and robbery that occurred in Paddonhurst suburb in Bulawayo.

โ€œWe are appealing for information that may lead to the whereabouts of the accused and his subsequent arrest. Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station,โ€ he said.

A family member told B-Metro that the maid was left alone at home. She was cleaning when a man wearing a balaclava rushed into the living room.

โ€œIt was a scary sight. While she was busy cleaning in the living room a man who was wearing a black balaclava walked into the sitting room and pointed a knife at her.

โ€œHe threatened to kill her if she screamed. Fearing for her life the maid never screamed,โ€ said the family member.

He grabbed her hand before walking her to her bedroom where he carried out the sickening attack, said the shocked relative.

After that the suspect demanded money and the maid surrendered US$120 to him and her cellphone before he fled.
